At Better Choices Psychiatry, we offer more than just symptom relief—we provide a personalized, compassionate, and comprehensive approach to mental health care. We take the time to truly understand you—your experiences, your challenges, your strengths, and your goals—so that together, we can create a treatment plan that is not only effective but also aligned with your values. Our approach combines evidence-based medication management (when needed), psychotherapy, and behavioral strategies, all within the context of a holistic, patient-centered model. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all treatment, and we don’t rush the process—each session is a full 60 minutes to ensure the depth and support you deserve. We also emphasize collaboration, making sure you feel informed, empowered, and comfortable with every step of your care.

Better Choices Psychiatry is a private pay, out-of-network practice, which means we do not contract directly with insurance companies. We understand this may feel like a barrier, and we want to share why this model allows us to provide the kind of care we deeply believe in.
Working outside of insurance gives us the freedom to offer longer, more meaningful sessions (a full 60 minutes), individualized treatment plans, and the flexibility to combine therapy, medication management, and behavioral support in one integrated visit. Insurance-based care often imposes time limits, requires a formal diagnosis, and restricts treatment options—we’ve chosen to step outside that system so we can focus fully on you without external pressure or limitations.
We are happy to provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network benefits.

Each appointment at Better Choices Psychiatry is designed to give you the time, space, and support to explore what’s really going on beneath the surface. You can expect a collaborative, open-ended conversation that may include checking in on your current mood, stressors, relationships, and overall functioning. We’ll explore patterns, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that are impacting your well-being, and work toward understanding how they connect to your larger goals.
If you’re taking medication, we’ll review how it’s working, any side effects, and adjust the plan as needed. If you’re not on medication, we’ll focus more deeply on the therapeutic and behavioral aspects of care, including coping strategies, mindset shifts, or practical changes that may help. Every appointment is tailored to your needs—whether it’s processing something difficult, making a decision, or gaining insight into long-standing patterns.
Above all, you can expect a safe, nonjudgmental space where your voice is heard, and your care is centered around you.
-
Not at all. At Better Choices Psychiatry, you will never be required to take medication. Our approach is centered around you, and any treatment recommendations—including medication—are always discussed openly and collaboratively. If medication is suggested, we’ll walk you through why it’s being considered, what it’s intended to help with, the potential benefits, and any possible side effects. We’ll also explain the process of starting slowly and monitoring closely to ensure your comfort and safety.
That said, many people benefit from therapy alone, and some prefer to try non-medication approaches first—which is completely valid. Our role is to help you understand your options so you can make informed decisions that feel right for you. You're in charge of your care, and we're here to support you every step of the way.
